CLOVIS, N.M. -- An attempted escape last Thursday inside the Curry County Jail is currently under investigation.
Around 5 p.m. an officer noticed unusual inmate activity in one of the pods. There he discovered inmates were in the process of punching a hole in an exterior wall within their pod.
Jail Administrator Keith Norwood declined to comment, because possible criminal charges may be filed.
The escape attempt is the second in six months. The last attempted escape involved four inmates who busted through the walls of their isolation cells with a broken desk, then went on an armed rampage causing more than $14,000 in damage.
