Randall County commissioners will submit a budget to the county clerk for the 2010-11 year, and county residents could see an increase in taxes.
All five commissioners voted Tuesday to pass a proposal of a 2.3 percent tax rate increase for home owners.
With this proposal, the rate for maintenance and operations would remain the same, but the debt rate would increase.
An official tells us that the commissioners kept the current state of the economy in mind before they made this proposal.
"It is important when you start looking at tax rates because you know every time we take a penny out of somebody's pocket I mean you know it's a confiscation of their money and so this commissioner court is extremely sensitive to what were doing down here," said Randall County Judge Ernie Houdashell.
The final decision of this proposal will be made on September 14th.
