AMARILLO, TEXAS -- School stars in less than 2 weeks. Tuesday some area kids got a special back to school shopping trip thanks to the Salvation Army and Target. 13 kids and teens shopped for clothes, shoes, notebooks and binders. They're students who don't qualify for the Salvation Army's "Shoes and Socks" program, but still need help getting school supplies.

"To be able to bring those kids, and we know their background and where they come from, we know the parents and home situation, so we personally know what their needs are.", says Major Tim Grider, Salvation Army.

Registration for the Salvation Army's "Shoes and Socks Program" continues. Major Grider says some late funding has given them the chance to help at least 800 area kids. Call 373-6631 for more information.
