Michael Duane Brown sentenced to 40 years in prison charges of attempted capital murder of a police officer.
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo man will spend the next 40 years behind bars. Michael Duane Brown pleaded guilty to three counts stemming from April of this year. That's when police say he attempted capital murder of a police officer after trying to evade officers in a stolen car.
In April, officers found a stolen vehicle in an alley near 34th and Western. Police watched as Brown, approached the stolen car. When officers confronted Brown he jumped back in his car, rammed the officers car to make his getaway. That's when officers say he started driving at one of the officers. At that point the officer opened fire, shooting Brown in the leg.
Brown led police on a chase and he was eventually found hiding in the trunk of a car a few blocks from the scene.
