PAMPA, TEXAS -- ProNews 7 recently received an e-mail from a Pampa resident complaining of brown and red water coming out of the faucets in their home. The anonymous person also claims that when residents have called the city about the water, "they don't have any answers of when the water will be clean."

We put a call in to Pampa's City Manager, Richard Morris and asked him about the water issue.

Morris says that the city is in the process of replacing some lines in the area between Duncan and Christine. Many of the pipes in that area have been there since the 40's and needed to be replaced. He adds that when the lines are being changed residents will get some rusty water.

With the new lines, residents could also be seeing an increase in water pressure which could push some of the rust that has built up over the years to be pushed out. Another possible reason is the residents may not be using enough water to flush it out from the alley.

Tthe city is also flushing hydrants in an effort to clear out the system, said Morris, he adds that they have even gone to some homes and flushed out their lines.

Any resident that may be having problems Morris says should call the city (806) 669-5750, and they will work with them to resolve the problem.

The city has conducted tests on the water to insure it is safe, and the results have come back negative, meaning the water is fine. Morris also adds that anytime lines are replaced, some discoloration will occur.
