AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The YMCA here in Amarillo has a new CEO. Jim Haugen, formerly of the Moore County YMCA in Dumas, will begin as CEO of Amarillo's YMCA this month.

The Moore County YMCA received much success under his leadership with an increase in membership and the addition of numerous programs for the local community. In addition, the Moore County board and Haugen led the way to create a branch in Cactus, serving a great number of refugees and underserved local residents. Haugen stated that this is a proud achievement for his community during his tenure at the Moore County Y. He has been quoted as saying, "It's not my YMCA and it's not the other staff's YMCA, it's the community's YMCA."

The Amarillo Family YMCA has three branches serving the Amarillo and Canyon community with Health and Wellness, Aquatics, Sports, Teens, Child Care and Arts Programs. Haugen will take over operations beginning Monday, August 23 and states that he is very excited to serve this Y and this community.
