AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A man has been sentenced to eight years in jail for assaulting a public servant last year.
47th District Attorney Randall Sims says Stephen Scott Whitaker was arrested at Elwood Park for an outstanding warrant. While Whitaker was in the patrol car, the arresting officer says he used his head to knock out the passenger window and kicked the officer several times while he tried to get him out of the vehicle.
Whitaker was found guilty on Tuesday of Assault and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
