CANYON, TEXAS -- The Canyon City Commissioners will meet Monday at 5:30. They will hold the first public hearing on the proposed tax rate.

City Manager Randy Criswell says that rate will amount to a 1.3 percent increase. An average home in Canyon valued at $117,000 would see an increase of $5.64 per year.

Criswell adds that they are working with a budget, that is barebones, saying there wasn't a lot of capitol monies to work with. Meaning it will allow the City to only do what needs to be done.
