AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo woman who was murdered over the weekend died from strangulation and trauma to her head and neck. Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Sherri Gillette, 44,  died from manual strangulation and trauma to her head and neck.

Amarillo Police say Paul David Gillette, 47,  is being held in the Potter County Detention Center on a $1 million bond. He is also on hold for violating his federal probation. He is accused of murdering Sherri Gillette on Sunday and leaving her body in a vehicle parked inside the garage of her home.

Police say that Sherri and Paul Gillette lived on the property, but in separate houses.

A fund has been set up for the Gillette's four children who are now left with other family members.

The fund is set up at Amarillo National Bank to help the kids with their education. If you would like to help out you can donate to the Sherri Gillette Children's Education fund at any ANB location.
