AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The state of Texas is holding about $2 billion in unclaimed property and some of that could be yours.

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs estimates that 26 out of every 100 residents in Amarillo have unclaimed property. Which could be anything from utility deposits, insurance proceeds, or abandoned safe deposit box contents.

Combs made a visit to Amarillo Tuesday morning to give Texans a wake-up call.

"I view this kind of a do-it-yourself stimulus package and if you could get your money out it may be something that helps you go out and buy something you wanted or give it to your church or do something else but its your money we really want you to have it."
