State Sen. Kel Seliger holds town hall meeting in Vega
VEGA, TEXAS -- State Senator Kel Seliger is canvassing the Panhandle with town hall meetings, asking his constituents for feedback about what's on their minds.
His first gathering in this round of meetings took place Wednesday morning in Vega at the Oldham County courthouse.
After discussing various topics, the senator asked for questions and the first one was how will the upcoming legislature handle the porous Texas-Mexico border.
Seliger replied, "That's the need for these laws, why we're looking at them...border security is national security and we've got an important job that's not being done. And until it gets done, and the border is secure, we're going to continue to have problems related to illegal immigrants."
The senator held two more meetings Wednesday and will hold a town hall meeting in Roberts County Thursday morning at 10 a.m.
