HEREFORD, TEXAS -- Two Hereford men have been arrested on drug charges. On Wednesday, a little after midnight, a DPS trooper working patrol in Deaf Smith County on US 60 stopped a car for unsafely changing lanes, just east of Hereford.

The trooper asked the driver, Emilio Enriquez, 35, and his passenger Albino Garcia Jr., 33, for consent to search the vehicle and it was denied.

An Oldham County K-9 officer arrived on scene and conducted a free air sniff. The K-9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle. A search of the car revealed 28.5 grams of methamphetamines hidden inside the glove box. The drugs were valued at $2,593.

Both Enriquez and Garcia were arrested and booked into the Deaf Smith County jail for possession of a controlled substance a second degree felony punishable by 2-20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
