Student taken into custody
CANYON, TEXAS -- A tip to the Canyon Junior High School administration office on Thursday led to the discovery of an unloaded handgun in a student's locker.
Canyon Independent School officials said in a press release that the administration immediately secured the premises after being contacted by the Canyon Police Department.
The administration and police searched the campus and found an unloaded handgun in a student-issued locker.
Canyon police took possession of the handgun, and the student suspected of bringing the weapon to school was taken into custody.
Law enforcement will now decide if any criminal charges should be brought against any student.
