AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo Symphony is gearing up for its opening weekend. It's the 86th season, and the symphony orchestra features members from our community.
This year, it wanted to showcase all the talents of its 87 musicians and to do that it will open with Mahler's symphony Number Five.
"They're going to blown everyone away by Mahler's symphony and frankly it's a piece that's rarely performed because it's so difficult to to play and so we're really excited that the musicians and kimbo are all up the challenge," said Sue White, the Acting Executive Director.
"It challenges our uh orchestra, exposes our technical abilities and also the depts of musicality of our group that's so exciting," said Kimbo Ishii-Eto, the Symphony Conductor.
The symphony premieres this Friday and Saturday night starting at 8 p.m. with a reception to follow.
