AMARILLO, TEXAS -- UPDATE: All lanes of Canyon Expressway are now back open. Amarillo Emergency Communications Center has confirmed that all lanes of northbound Canyon Drive that were closed by this morning's accidents are open, and traffic flow is back to normal.

According to APD, all lanes are open on I-27 and traffic is back to normal.
APD suggests you avoid IH27 (Canyon Drive) and access road, northbound lanes, from Georgia St to 26th due to accident

At 7:47 AM, APD units were sent to a traffic accident in the northbound lanes of 26th and Canyon Drive. Due to this and possibly 2-3 subsequent accidents, Canyon Drive and the access road for northbound traffic is partially blocked. Traffic is limited to one lane and is backed up to near the Georgia Street overpass. We have no information on injuries at this time. APD units and Amarillo Emergency Services units are working to get traffic moving, but we suggest you avoid this area for now. APD will notify you when traffic is flowing again.
