ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department has opened a state fair booth so New Mexico residents can review unclaimed property held by the state.

Taxation and Revenue Secretary-designate Duffy Rodriguez wants New Mexico residents to visit the fairgrounds booth in Albuquerque to determine if any of the $120 million in cash, artifacts, jewelry and collectors' items belong to them.

The law requires holders of unclaimed property to turn it over to the state after there's been no activity for a set period. The state holds property until the owner claims it.

Property or money might have come from banks, utilities or insurance companies.

The state also has refund checks, stock certificates and unclaimed wages as well as jewelry, old coins and other collectibles from abandoned safe deposit boxes.
