SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO (AP) -- SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Bill Richardson says he tried to recruit investment in New Mexico during meetings with executives of more than 20 companies during a trip to Spain.
Richardson's office said Friday that several of the companies plan visit to New Mexico. Many of the businesses leaders visited by Richardson are involved with solar power and other renewable energy.
The governor traveled to Spain last Sunday. The Rafael del Pino Foundation paid for the governor's travel expenses.
During his trip, Richardson also met with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos.
The U.S. ambassador to Spain hosted a reception in honor of the governor.
Earlier this year, a Spanish company announced plans to build a solar plant in eastern New Mexico.
