AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A warning from the Texas Department of Transportation. Don't drink and drive especially on game days. TxDOT says on game days during pro-football, basketball and college games there are more DUI arrest and accidents. That's why they have started their campaign called, "Know When to Pass". TxDOT says if you've had a few drinks, that's a few too many so pass your keys.
"People drink anywhere from 3 to 4 alcoholic drinks on average during a game. And we know that people may not actually be a .08 at that point, but buzzed driving is drunk driving so under any influence will still land you in jail," said Tracy Tellman, Traffic Safety Specialist from TxDOT.
Pronews 7 spoke to Amarillo Police Department about game day drinking and driving. They say they expect a small increase of DUI arrest and accidents during a big football game.
