AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Una Gran Cena, or a Grand Fiesta, was held at the Amarillo Civic Center on Thursday evening. More than 100 people showed up to support the Wesley Community Center.
The center said it's been around for 59 years and now offers nine different programs to the Amarillo Community. The programs are geared towards families with babies, to youth, senior citizens, and after school programs for students in school. They are all free to the public, but in order to make sure they stay that way, the organization hosted this fundraiser fiesta to help make up the funding it needs.
"It's to benefit all of the nine programs at the Wesley community center. Many of our programs are free to the overall community so we want to be able to continue to provide those services," said Belinda Gonzales Taylor, the Executive Director of the Wesley community center.
The key note speaker was the President of the Women's Board of Global Ministries of United Methodist Women. She inspired the hispanic youth to continue to get involved in the community.
