AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A new program at United and Market Street Supermarkets is expected to bring in thousands of pounds of food to local food banks.
It's called "Complete the Circle," and is expected to bring in 200,000 pounds of food to Texas food banks.United has pledged to match sales of its organic, healthy Full Cirle line of products in donations to local food banks. All of the United supermarkets and Market Street in Amarillo are participating, however Amigos is not part of the program because they don't carry the Full Circle brand.
United Supermarkets will donate up to 4,000 pounds of food from each participating location. Full Circle products are marked by "Complete The Circle" labels on shelves throughout the 47 participating store locations.
The supermarket chain has a long history of philanthropy, and just recently donated more than $200,000 to Texas United Way organizations.
