AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Police are investigating two robberies that happened overnight. The first happened around 12:55, when two black men entered Comfort Inn at 2300 S. Soncy, and asked about a room. They then went outside, and one of the men came back inside with a mask over his face, brandishing a pistol and jumped over the counter. He took an undetermined amount of cash from the register. No vehicle was seen and no one was injured.
About ten minutes later, officers were called to the Country Inn and Suites at 2000 S. Soncy on another theft.
The clerk was across the lobby working when a black man came into the hotel, jumped over the counter and tried to pry open a cash drawer. The clerk confronted the man, and he told her to "get back."
The clerk felt threatened and she hid from him in another area. The suspect took some electronic equipment from the behind the counter and left.
Again no vehicle was seen, and a weapon was not seen. No one was injured in this theft either.
While officers were investigating the second incident they learned of the first robbery, and that one of men from that crime matched the description of the man from the incident they were investigating.
The only description is two black men, and one was said to be wearing a dark possibly gray hoodie. At this time, police believe the incidents are related, and are investigating both.
