AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A local professor is gearing up for the general election next month, and hopes to learn a little about how our area votes.
Teel Bivins Professor of Political Science at West Texas A&M University Dr. Dave Rausch has set up an exit poll with questions voters can answer after they leave the voting booth, about how they voted.
Rausch said he loves studying election results and will use the information to teach social statistics.
Early voting starts Monday. For a link to the Rausch's exit poll click here.
The poll will not only ask questions about the election but also has questions about term limits, the Tea Party movement, and the United States Congress. Voters will also be asked some economic questions and religious affiliation and church attendance to help Rausch better define voting trends in our area.
"The information collected will give me a better understanding of why voters cast ballots as they did," Rausch said.
Early voting runs Oct. 18-29, and election day is Tuesday, Nov. 2. The general election ballot will include the race for several state offices including governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.
