AMARILLO, TX -- One Amarillo native artist and author is releasing a new children's picture book and it's purpose is to teach young readers valuable lessons.

Karen Gammage is signing copies of her new book at the Galleries of Sunset Center Studio today here in Amarillo.

The book is about a couple of baby squirrels -- Nutty and Buddy -- trying to survive after their home is taken away from them.

Gammage says the picture book is presented for children to learn the values of friendship and compassion.

"I think it's right to take care of what God gives us, and I think it's right to care for the animals...to make sure that they have the right chance and to raise them to be taken back to the wild -- not just kept as a pet," said Karen Gammage, ' Nutty and Buddy' Author.

If you can't make it to the event, copies of "Nutty and Buddy" can be found at online at NuttyandBuddy.com or at the Sunset Gallery.
