PAMPA, TEXAS -- Police are investigating the death of a Pampa man after his body was found Wednesday morning. Pampa police said they received the call around 6:50, the caller told authorities a body was lying beside the walking path in the 500 block of Starkweather street.

When officers arrived, they found the body of Robert Lee "Arley" French, 55, lying just east of the bridge near the walking path of that street. Officers found no signs of trauma on the body.

Gray County Justice of the Peace Joe Martinez, ordered an autopsy on the body, which will be performed in Lubbock.

According to Pampa police chief Kelly Rushing, the case is being investigated as a homicide.

"We will continue to work on a time line for the victim, and gather all the information we can on this matter. We would ask that anyone with information on this incident contact the Pampa Police Department. We hope that the autopsy will give us some definite answers as to what happened."

We will continue to follow this story and inform you of any new details as they become available.
