AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For more than 60 years the Coffee Memorial Blood Center has been helping save lives in our area. To celebrate the milestone the Amarillo City Commission proclaimed Wednesday, October 20, to be Coffee Memorial Blood Center Day.

The proclamation was delivered by Amarillo's mayor Debra McCartt and commissioner Brian Eades.

The center draws and processes more than 30,000 units of whole blood, along with platelets, plasma, and stem cells per year.

In their 60 years, the center has helped half a million people. To read some amazing stories about how blood donations have helped save the lives of children and adults click here, but you might want to have some Kleenex ready these stories are truly moving.
