AMARILLO, TX -- The Texas Panhandle has commodities the rest of the world is dependent on and because of that Texas is benefiting.
The Panhandle offers commodities such as oil, natural gas and of course agriculture, and while prices for food and gas are steadily creeping up one economist tells us US consumers are not necessarily the ones to blame.
"These are very much the prices that we receive for those products that are very much driven by world markets not local markets. So, it's not so much of the situation in the United States that's driving our current commodity price situation it's elsewhere in the world," said Karr Ingham, Local Economist.
Ingham says that prices may once again continue to creep up well into next year.
