AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Monday was the deadline for baseball leagues to submit their proposals to represent Amarillo next year, since the Dillas lost their contract earlier this month. Four proposals were sent in to the county purchasing agent, including the original Dillas owned by John Bryant.

Also on the list, the Pecos league from Houston, the startup Amarillo Community Baseball Club, and the Southern Independent Baseball league.

County officials hope to make a decision quickly for the future of baseball in Amarillo.

"I would hope so, I really hope so. We hope, because we want to do everything to get baseball started in the Spring so we will rush this as much as possible, but we don't want to make any mistakes," said Sharon Paige, Potter County Purchasing Agent.

Unless a special meeting is called, the proposals will be discussed at the next Potter County Commissioners meeting on November 5th and all league representatives are invited to participate.
