AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Something that could be very important for somebody who doesn't have a good coat right now. This week's near freezing temperatures are a quick reminder that those cold winter days aren't too far away. So, it's a good time to remind you about the Eveline Rivers Coat Drive. For years, children in our area have been benefiting from the Eveline Rivers Coat Drive and the generosity of the Panhandle. Every Tuesday night at 7:00pm, kids in need of a warm winter coat, gloves, and a hat can pick out those items at the Eveline Rivers Christmas Project warehouse. The shelves are stocked now, but as the temperatures drop, those shelves will empty. And witnessing the pure joy these kids get from picking their own coat is special.
"Am very grateful because I have 3 children, of course, 1 now is grown and gone, but I have 2 younger ones that are 12 and 9 and to come here and get a coat am very grateful for it because if not they might not have a winter coat," said Norma Holmes, who's kids benefit from getting a coat.
If you would like to donate, bring a new or gently used coat to Pronews 7 studio at One Broadcast Center or you can drop them off Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Eveline Rivers building at 314 Jefferson.
