Murder investigation in Ochiltree County

PERRYTON, TEXAS (AP) -- The Ochiltree County Sheriff's office say that one person is dead following an overnight shooting.

Dispatchers received a call from the Gainsville, Texas police department informing them of a of shooting. The dispatcher said that her son, Chuck Crabtree shot a man named Mike Miller and was going to shoot himself. The Ochiltree County Sheriff's office responded to the Miller residence which is located 15 miles southwest of Perryton in the Texas Panhandle. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a male subject running across a field toward the house.

While deputies were approaching the home, a gun shot was heard coming from the inside in the home. A short time later, Chuchwa Crabtree ran out the backdoor and surrendered to law enforcement. Police searched the home and found a loaded weapon and the body of Mike Miller.

Crabtree was arrested and charged with murder.
