WASHINGTON (AP) - The man who's likely to be the next House speaker, John Boehner, says he'll be looking for President Barack Obama to "change course" and "respect the will of the people."

Republicans now just have to avoid losing ground in the remaining races to be decided, and they'll be in control of the House next year.

The veteran Democrats who've been pushed aside in the Republican march toward control of the House include Budget Committee Chairman John Spratt of South Carolina. Another longtime Democratic House member, Ike Skelton of Missouri, has congratulated Republican challenger Vicky Hartzler, saying she appears to be the winner in their congressional race.

Democrats, meanwhile, have lost a fifth Senate seat to the GOP. Republican Pat Toomey defeated Democrat Joe Sestak in Pennsylvania to capture the seat that was held by Democrat Arlen Specter. But Democratic control of the Senate in the new Congress is now assured.
