AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The firefighters and officers who risk their lives were honored tonight at an annual awards banquet.
It showcases the heroic acts of the firefighters and civilians, too. Many firefighters said they don't want to be recognized, they just want to do their jobs and help the community.
This year they announced firefighter of the year Andy Mettham. He and a friend dived into Lake McKenzie to save the life of a man after a cliff fell on top of him and pushed him into the lake.
