WHITE DEER, TX -- The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer celebrated their annual polish sausage dinner today.
It started as a small church dinner in 1938, but turned into a community-wide event that now serves about two thousand people.
Its a tradition that occurs on every first Sunday in November.
Publicity chairman for the dinner says this event has a lot of history in its making.
"It's important for us to keep this up because it's the tradition of our parish. Our parish was settled by 13 polish families in 1910, our church was built in 1913, and in fact this year we're celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first mass that was set in this area," said Carolyn Rapstien, Polish Sausage Dinner Chairman.
Funds made from the dinner go to benefit and support the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The four thousand pounds of sausage that was made this year was made and seasoned right in White Deer.
