AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Randall County is this week's spotlight in a special pictorial postal stamp cancellation featuring 52 Texas Panhandle counties. The Texas Plains Trail Organization, one of the Texas Historical Commission's 10 Heritage Trails, is sponsoring the program.

Randall County is the 45th county to be featured in the weekly program. The county's postal stamp cancellation will be available for purchase on Wednesday, November 10, for $3, or if you bring your own envelope its free. The event is at Canyon's post office, 1304 4th Ave. at 11:00 a.m. Randall County will also be the spotlight on the Texas Plains Trail website as the "County of the Week."

This Texas Plains Trail/U.S. Postal Service Stamp Cancellation project began on January 6, 2010 in Armstrong County and will continue each Wednesday of 2010 at a different county seat.

It is an effort to promote travel and heritage tourism by connecting points of regional pride. The Texas Plains Trail Stamp Cancellation Program was the idea of photographer Rick Vanderpool.
