AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo Police were called to 42 Cypress Point just after 5:00 Monday morning on a suicidal subject. After arriving at the scene, officers talked to a family member of the homeowner who told police they hadn't been able to contact the occupant of the home. The family member informed officers that the occupant had been drinking and had access to numerous guns.

As officers approached the house, they saw a male subject inside the home. At one point, he fired a handgun inside the home. SWAT and Hostage Negotiators were called to the scene but before they could get to the scene, police say, the subject either passed out or fell asleep on the couch. SWAT Team members were able to enter the home and take the subject into custody without any further incident.

The man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The investigation continues.
