CANYON, TEXAS -- Smoking is an addictive habit that is said to kill an average of 2,000 people a day. A number that the American Cancer Society is fighting to lower every day.
Thursday, November 18, in particular is the Great American Smokeout, a day that is committed to spreading information about the harms of smoking and the people it harms. They visited the West Texas A&M campus to pass out pamphlets to students to get them on board in the fight against smoking.
"We have information on different steps to take for people to quit smoking as well as prevention information for people to not to start smoking such as kids," said Terri Prescott the community manager of health initiatives.
