AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions, that's the goal behind Make-A-Wish. Saturday, one special little girl was the recipient of a wish. Pronews 7 was there as she rode with Santa to welcome him to the Westgate Mall. Santa rode down the mall aisle in style. But there was something a little more special about the ride, in the back sat Camryn Smith, her sister and brother. A special treat for a little girl who's been battling leukemia for 2 1/2 years. But not anymore, September 27th she was declared cured.
"It's been a long 2 1/2 years and last Christmas we were still in the mist of the fight and to have this Christmas were she can just be a kid again is nice," said Marcus Smith, Camryn's Father.
Just around the time of the good news, Camryn and her family took a trip to Disney World courtesy of Make-A-Wish.
"It was more than we could of ever had expected. We always thought you know when you get a trip to disney world with Make-A-Wish, it was just going to Disney World, but it was so much more," said Julie Smith, Camryn's Mother.
So from Disney World to riding with Santa, Pronews 7 asked Camryn what her favorite part of Saturday's ride was.
"Well, we loved to look out the window," said Camryn Smith.
"We are so blessed to live in this country and this world to have things like Make-A-Wish, you never think your going to be privy to that, I mean, you hear about Make-A-Wish and you think it's a wonderful thing and then when all of sudden you're a part of it, you realize wow it's an incredible organization," said Marcus.
