AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Bikers in our area teamed up to collect toys for the Eveline Rivers Christmas Project this weekend. Almost 1,000 bikers participated in that run, and enough toys were collected to fill up two big trailers. No word yet, on how much money was raised.
Now that the gifts have been collected, they need Santa's helpers to get them all wrapped up and ready to go.
The workshop is closed this week for the Thanksgiving holiday but will start back up next week.
Volunteer hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m., Saturday morning starting at 9:30. The workshop is located at 3rd and Jefferson in downtown Amarillo.
The deadline to register kids for Christmas gifts is December 1. Children can be registered through the child's school or agency.
Presents will be delivered December 11, at 9 a.m., if you want to help all you need to do is show up. If you don't want to wait in line to register, you can call 372-3985 to pre-register.
Right now, the Christmas project is in desperate need of stuffed animals, preferably the bigger ones about 18". They need about 3,000.
Eveline Rivers also heads up the Coat Drive and they are out of coats for 2T and 3T boys coats, you can drop those off Tues-Thurs. Between 9-11:00 am at the Eveline Rivers building at 314 Jefferson.
