Local reaction to what has been a story of interest around the world Pope Benedict XVI's recent comments about the use of condoms to prevent the spread of aids.
Were the Benedict's comments misunderstood? The Vatican who has long been criticized for its opposition to condom use. And the Benedict's position is an acknowledgment that the church's long-held anti-birth control stance doesn't justify putting lives at risk. But will the new comments change the theology of catholicism? One local priest doesn't believe it will.
"He's realizing that there are different stages of moral development and on the way to embracing what the church teaches fully about sexual morality this gesture can be one step in the direction of a recognition of what sexual morality really entails." Said Father Robert Busch, Holy Cross Academy Headmaster.
Father Busch also said that he doesn't believe for a moment that Benedict is endorsing condoms.
