DUMAS, TEXAS -- One day there will be a giant statue of the famous Ding Dong Daddy to welcome visitors to Dumas, but when that statue will arrive is anyone's guess.
Pronews 7 spoke with Dumas City Manager Vince DiPiazza about the statue and he tells us that they have not taken delivery of the statue, and it is not yet complete. He also said they have seen the pieces. The sculptor has admitted that he had several problems related to finishing the statue such as, having to relocate his studio and permitting issues.
The statue was ordered more than a year and a half ago, and it was expected to be finished much sooner than the work has actually taken. DiPiazza said that the latest deadlines for completion have passed, but they are hopeful the city will have the Ding Dong Daddy in hand in the next couple of months.
