AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Three years ago, Amarillo's city commission and many of its residents decided to revitalize downtown. Downtown Amarillo Inc. came up with boundaries to work within to accomplish that.
Mayor Debra McCartt says there have been a lot of positive things happening downtown, and she says there's more to come in the future. But she tells us there have been a lot of negative issues about the residential redevelopment around downtown that she feels need to be revisited.
"There should not be an issue with the residential home owners because i feel like it will just only raise their property values in the future, however we have not heard from the other side so i want everyone to come out. please let us know what your feelings are, this is just an opportunity to bring everyone for or against this being removed from our downtown urban design," said Mayor McCartt
If you are ready to speak up? A public hearing is set for tomorrow for comments on Amarillo's urban design standards as they relate to residential properties.
It starts at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at city hall.
