CONWAY, TEXAS -- Troopers with the Department of Public Safety working in Carson County stopped a car for speeding, and found drugs hidden inside.
The speeding car was pulled over just before 2:30 Wednesday afternoon one mile east of Conway. During the stop, the troopers asked to search the vehicle but their request was denied.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene and conducted a free air sniff, the dog alerted troopers to the presence of a controlled substance. A search turned up three bundles of cocaine totaling 1,250 grams, the drugs had a street value of $91,250. Marijuana weighing around 2 ounces was also found hidden inside some luggage.
Two people, Luis D. Santana and Isaac J. Hernandez, were arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail. The pair have been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a first degree felony punishable by 10 years to life in prison. Troopers believe the two were traveling from California to New Jersey when they were stopped.
