SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Department of Public Safety, the Santa Fe Police Department and Santa Fe County sheriff's deputies are cracking down on drunken drivers.
They have conducted two DWI warrant roundups over the past two months as part of "Operations Descansos." The effort is being funded by the state Transportation Department.
So far, 76 people with outstanding DWI warrants have surrendered and 84 people with outstanding warrants have been arrested.
The operation will continue in January with the newspaper publication of the names and photos of offenders in Santa Fe County with outstanding DWI warrants.
Santa Fe Crime Stoppers has also offered a reward to anyone with information regarding the crimes or the location of DWI offenders with outstanding warrants.
