AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Lights were flashing, music was playing, and kids were laughing as Dr. Steve Patton's house lights up the neighborhood with Christmas cheer.
His son, Zach, said they do it every year to raise everyone's spirits.
"It's for the kids and it's just to spread the holiday cheer and get everyone into the holiday spirit," said Zach Patton, Steve's son.
The lights flash to songs that are linked up to a radio station, so you can listen in your car as the lights flash.
That includes songs by the Beastie Boys and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and even more traditional Christmas songs.
One family made a night of it by taking the kids to the present-day Clark Griswald's house. After marveling at the lights, the kids told us seeing them really makes Christmas come alive.
"It's fun because we got to have for Christmas and rent a limo and we got to come and watch these lights," said Jessica McCoy.
"It's fun cause I'm out here with family and friends," said Nathan McCoy.
"It's really fun! It's my first time and I wish I can do it again," said Luke McCoy.
"It's pretty awesome coming out here and seeing all the pretty lights and how they have it all hooked up to the radio and stuff," said Noah Rogers, one of the kids who was enjoying the show.
Whether you came in a limo or just in your car, watching these almost 50,000 lights is a spectacle of its own. If you want to check out the Patton's house it's on the corner of Hawthorne and Locust in the 2400 block.
