AMARILLO, TX -- One man is on a journey across America, and he is literally doing it on foot

Since 1972, Ron Zaleski has been walking barefoot in support of fallen heroes and calling attention to post traumatic stress disorder  (PTSD).

He says he is willing to do whatever it takes to raise awareness and implement a plan.

"We have a petition and we get people to sign it . We're driving back to Washington, and we're going to go to every capital and get congressmen and senators to sign it then hand deliver it to the president.  It's a three point plan."

Zaleski says PTSD should always be addressed for military personnel regardless.

"We prepare them physically, but a human being is more than just a physical being -- he's a spiritual and emotional being; if you don't do anything for those other two parts of him, you don't have a complete person and we're all human."

Here's his three-point plan for all soldiers:

1. Grieving, or loss of life and limb counseling before soldiers get out of boot camp.

2. Counseling before they get discharged.

3. Support groups available after they get discharged.

Zaleski was headed westbound on I-40 toward Bushland and Vega.around 9 a.m.

He's been on I-40 since June 1.
