AMARILLO, TEXAS --
The Amarillo Community Development Advisory Committee approved changing next year's action plan for Habitat for Humanity.
That means the Habitat program will get more money to rehabilitate homes in Amarillo, homes that are occupied by families who qualify as low income.
Habitat would like to refurbish the homes when those families move out and move another qualifying single family in. That change would mean a big opportunity for the program.
"Well it just gives us the opportunity for more funding and especially in these times when funding is low, to be able to serve more families and that's what we are here for is to serve the families in the community," said Steve Smart, Executive Director of Amarillo Habitat for Humanity.
The Community Development Administrator says the change will not affect the funding Habitat gets now.
