AMARILLO, TEXAS -- UPDATE 4:15:   Lt. Gary Trupe with the Special Crimes Unit said they contacted the family of suspect Bobby Leroy Phea, and with the family's help they were able to negotiate his surrender.

And they called us back again, and said well what happens if we do this, and we said that's fine just bring him here and we'll deal with him whatever happens. 15-20 minutes later they showed up and called and said they were in the municipal court lot and turned him over."

Phea is said to have been the boyfriend of Deidre Black. At this time he has been charged with Aggravated Assault with Serious Bodily Injury Domestic Violence, those charges may change once the preliminary autopsy results come in. The autopsy is scheduled for Thursday in Lubbock.

Police are investigating the possible murder of an Amarillo woman. Officers were called to the home at 1427 Studebaker around 5:40 am Wednesday morning, on a 911 call reporting a female wasn't  breathing due to domestic violence.

When officers arrived they found Deidre Denise Black, 32, dead on the floor in her house. Police said that Black had obvious assault type injuries to her upper body. The house was in disarray and it appeared that a struggle had taken place.

The caller reported seeing a suspect leave the house and drive away in Black's car, which is described as a green 4-door Buick. Officers found the green Buick in the area of Carver Elementary School around 10 a.m.

The cause of death was not obvious at the time of the release. Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn ordered an autopsy to be performed in Lubbock on Thursday.

Police have identified a person of interest, but no warrants had been issued at the time of the release.

Anyone with information about this suspected homicide, is asked to call Special Crimes Unit at (806) 378-9468 or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400.

We will update the story with any additional information as it becomes available.
