LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Dozens of firefighters battled wildfires in Floyd, Lamb and Hale counties that threatened some homes but left nobody injured.
KCBD-TV reported that as of Thursday more than 4,000 acres of grassland, in the three counties north of Lubbock, have burned. No residences were damaged.
Meteorologist Jody James with the National Weather Service in Lubbock says the federal agency is bracing for "lots of potential for days with grass fires."
The Texas Division of Emergency Management on Thursday noted there is an extreme wildfire danger across the state as winter begins next week.
