Hazardous driving conditions in New Mexico

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Weather is creating hazardous driving conditions on some northern and eastern New Mexico highways.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation says U.S. 54 is closed from Santa Rosa to Vaughn.

Difficult driving conditions exist on Interstate 25 from Raton to Las Vegas. Roads are snow packed and icy.

Crews are out plowing, salting and sanding down roadways.

I-25 is closed from Las Vegas to Santa Fe. Roads are snow packed and icy and it's snowing moderately.

In eastern New Mexico, Interstate 40 is closed from Santa Rosa to Moriarty. Roads are snow packed and icy and crews are out treating roadways.

Drivers should beware of black ice and should slow their speed and use caution.
