AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo Police released updated information on the death of Deidre Denise Black, 32, who was found deceased in a home at 1427 Studebaker.
Officers were called to that address Wednesday morning where they found Black dead on the floor. Due to the way the home looked, police thought that a struggle could have taken place.
At the time, police were unsure what caused Black to die but did say Black had obvious assault type injuries to her upper body.
Later Wednesday, police arrested Bobby Leroy Phea on a charge of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury domestic injury.
An autopsy was performed Thursday in Lubbock. Friday police said that while the results of the autopsy are pending it appears Black died from the stress of the assault which exacerbated a pre-existing heart condition.
Police added the victim did suffer blunt force injuries to the head and face but that those injuries were not life threatening. The case will be presented to a grand jury at a later date, Phea remains in the Potter County Jail.
Lt. Gary Trupe with Special Crimes said they will stick with the original charges for now, it will be up to the grand jury to decide if additional charges are filed or changed.
