City of Amarillo holiday hours, Christmas tree recycling

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The City of Amarillo has announced their holiday hours for the Christmas Holiday.

The city will close at 3:00 Thursday afternoon and will re-open normal business operations on Monday, December 27, 2010. The city did state that emergency services will operate without interruptions.

The Solid Waste Department will also be providing holiday services for residential collections with a twice a week pick up for the next two weeks. Starting Monday, December 27th, the city will kickoff their annual Christmas tree recycling program. The program will run through February 2011. Citizens will be able to drop their tree off at one of the four brush sites, those locations are as follows:

Broadway south of Hastings
Eastern south of SE 34th,
Soncy 1 mile north of SW 9th Ave
7500 S. Soncy

The trees will be mulched, that mulch is free and available to the public. The city advises that all trees should be delivered without metal stands and without lights or ornaments.
